Working together for the achievement of all

Year 1

We are very happy that you dropped in to see us. This page currently contains pictures of our classes hard at work in our classrooms; however, these pages will be regularly updated with information relating to our classroom activities so please keep checking back for new information.

See you all again soon.

Topic - Land Ahoy - Form 1 have been learning all about pirates. They have explored pirate facts and written their own non-chronological text about them including some very interesting and fun facts!

Form 1 have made pirate hats following clear instructions, have explored different materials that would make a good ship, used a variety of textures to produce a ship artwork that has been used for a display in the classroom, created their own treasure maps with coordinates and much more!

Maths - Form 1 have explored the concept of weight, measurement, multiplication and fractions using concrete objects to help them with their learning.

R.E - Form 1 have been learning all about Judaism. At the beginning of the topic Form 1 thought about what they would like to find out and wrote these questions on post it notes that were used for a classroom display. Form 1 recreated a Shabbat scene, designed covers for the Torah and created their own version of the Star of David!

In the Classroom:

We have been having a lot of fun this week in Form one getting to know each other. We have played games, read books, practiced our handwriting and improved our counting skills.

As we are fantastic Phonics Detectives, we have even made a tricky wall tree for our classroom to help us with our writing. Our favourite part of the week has been meeting Barry the Prayer Bear who we pray with at lunch time and home time and who (if we are super stars for the week) we get to take home for the weekend!

We really enjoyed cooking in Reception and so we are delighted that our topic for this term is ‘Food’. We can’t wait to start discovering new ingredients and trying new recipes.
